I'm currently using a Silicon Image PCI IDE controller for programming DIP32 chips using [http://www.flashrom.org/ flashrom]. It would be nice to be able to use this setup for programming DIP28 chips (for instance for use as [[NIC bootrom burning|nic bootroms]]). It should be a fairly simple rewiring job.

It turns out a lot of DIP28 chips on VGA cards  I own are of the EPROM kind, some of them aren't even windowed so no chance of erasing them using a UV eraser (which I don't have anyway). I obtained 2 DIP28 Atmel AT28C256-15PC EEPROMs for testing.
