Got some work done today. First hit the secondary coil out of the transformer with a chisel and hammer. Then made a simple welding handle and used the 4mm2 (~awg 11) wire with two loops. Measuring showed I was getting about 1.6V. Welding sorta seemed to work, but couldn't get anything welded, and wires got very hot. Really need something thicker I guess ...

DIY Spot Welder

For welding batterytabs, i thought it would be nice to have a spot welder.

Parts needed

  • Microwave transformer (got this)
  • Thick-ass copper wire (profzon or the0 is getting this probably)
  • Delay timer ( ordered http://www.ebay.nl/itm/262966589796 )
  • Momentary switch
  • Some kinda auto-fuse box?
  • Case
  • Welding handle

Build log
