So, it seems we are going to be build 3 Prusa I3 printers sometime in the future.

This page is an attempt to document it all, our own little BOM. (bill of materials)

Participants and Printer Plans

We have 4 participants in total.

Fablabwag

Stretched i3! 21x27x30cm printarea.

4pi electronics, and a raspi with octoprint.

Laafwerpen

Laafwerpen; 2x 47 2x 57 2x 51 <- is this still correct??

Tall0ak

Totally stock i3, using the Arduino 2560 that Tall0ak already has.

Dupe

???

Needed

power supply

Currently i am using a 12V supply for everything, but it is quite possible to heat the bed on 24V and run the motors on 12V. Maybe

40 euro

hotend

I don't see any reason to not use a J-Head.. 0.5 is fast but i might follow ID and profzon and go for 0.4..

60 euro

hobbed bolt

Arcol's hyena is awesome :)

15 euro

electronics

No idea yet.. Maybe go for 4pi?

Or this thingy for cheapness?

stepper drivers

Provided we are _not_ going for 4pi, we need some. Stepsticks should be fine.

stepper motors

They cut us a deal earlier, maybe we can try it again?

55 euro

smooth rods

Not sure, maybe profzon has an idea about this?

Stainless: http://www.fnf-metaal.nl/roestvaststaal/leveringsprogramma/rvs-staf http://www.rvsland.nl/Webwinkel-Product-5856865/Staf-RVS304-%C3%98-8-mm-H9.html

Typically ~3 EUR per metre. ~3m per printer (not including inefficiencies etc.) ~10-15 EUR. TallOak (talk) 15:09, 29 January 2013 (CET)

20 euro

threaded rods

We have a shitload of M8 threaded rod on the space already, we _will_ probably need to get ~5 meter of M5 rod.

10 euro

nuts & bolts

Again, not sure... profzon?

10 euro

bed heating

I would like to maybe experiment with a different sized bed, seeing as this is available for not much more money.

30 euro

build surface

Piece of glass from the neighbours? Or maybe finally use that piece of scanner glass i've been saving.. hmmm

5 euro

bearings

10 LM8UU style and a couple of 608 and maybe a 624?

We have some 608 floating around in the space ...

6 euro

printed parts

Yes yes

belts & pulleys

T2.5! So ...

Or;

25 euro

endstops

2 euro

fan

2 euro

frame

Right, choices are to be made. Which wood, if wood at all? Boxed version? Single plate?

Boxed version;

  • Some wood

20 euros?

Single frame;

  • milled/waterjet piece of alu?

80 euros?

Total

280 euros , missing electronics 300 euros for boxed version, missing electronics
360 euros for single frame version, missing electronics

Wow, really 280? This can't be right :P Ah, missing the frame.
