Niz got [https://www.tindie.com/products/Sourcery/-12v-and-5v-powersupply-for-eurorack/ a possible upgrade]. This uses a 12V AC brick which we have.
It can be attached to power connectors on a piece of stripboard. The guy that made it even made a [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24isNGlqWn8 soldering video].

What

Eurorack modular synthesizer. We have a 3U 19" case in which we can experiment and play with eurorack synth modules. The back also has rails. We will put in sliding nuts so we can put modules in the back as well, might be nice for 2 person patching madness.

For now: Bring your own patch cables (mono 3.5mm mini jack)

Powah

USBPowerThingy

Our modules are powered by a USBPowerThingy. This is a USB powered busboard with 6 connectors (3x 10 pins and 3x 16 pins). When we run out of space or juice, we can look for another solution. The board is mounted, the location and manner is not ideal, but for now it'll do.

⚠Output current ⚠

Please note the maximum output currents: +12V 700mA and -12V 150mA .5V is coming directly from the USB adapter, so this is whatever it can muster minus current used for the +-12V.

Progress \o/

Supplies

There's a little box with screws and washers and it will contain more ribbon cables in the future.

Todo

  • Add sliding nuts to back side for more modules
  • Add better PSU, possibly using the 230V connector on the back and switch on the front (USB brick inside the rack?)
  • Put a top cover on the rack
  • Get more patch cables
