The testrack - also known as the "Emmaus op wieltjes" - is a playgound for networking and dev-ops cosplaying. the rack is fitted with several rather vintage computer systems that you can configure to your liking. The peripherals attached to a KVM and network switch provide easy access to all machines in the rack. Also, the testrack is on wheels which makes tactical deployments possible.
what's in the rack?
- two identical mediaclient miniPC's - a desktop with a 3x firewire card and a vintage videocard. This PC has a USB docking station - a 4x KVM switch - mouse, keyboard and monitor - several switches and routers if you want to build nested networks. currently a linksys router is connected.
what can you do with it?
- compare different linux distro's
- build the slowest proxmox cluster known to men
- build an SSH maze of containers in VMs in VMs in hardware in a subnet and see if you can find your way.
- try out V-LAN networking
- test out differrent networking, remote desktop and filesharing protocols between different machines and architctures.
- Improve your l33t h4ck3r sk1llz.
- hack the planet* (please don't connect the testrack to the nurdspace network. Its DHCP server will cause a mess...)
next steps
- mount the monitor
- add a 4th system, ideally with a different architecture
- hark a ventoy USB stick with antidiefstal stuff to the rack.
- add some swag and decoration
